New Trier Educational Foundation is excited to announce a transformative $10 million gift. This generous contribution was designated to enhance athletic facilities at New Trier’s Northfield Campus, providing top-tier competition and practice spaces for New Trier students and the community.

The donation, made by an anonymous donor who appreciates the opportunities New Trier provided to their children, will enable New Trier High School to embark on a comprehensive renovation project that includes replacing the existing turf at the stadium and adjacent fields, with one field being upgraded to a Poligras surface, converting a portion of the northern grass fields to standard artificial turf, and replacing the visitor-side stadium bleachers with a two-sided bleacher system for permanent seating on the east side for competitions that occur on that field.

With student athletic participation steadily increasing, these enhancements will not only meet current needs but also align with New Trier High School’s long-term facilities vision. This extraordinary generosity has fast-tracked improvements, allowing students to benefit sooner than anticipated.

“The Northfield Campus serves as a central location for many of the District’s outdoor athletic practices and competitions,” explained Augie Fontanetta, New Trier’s Athletic Director.  “By completing these renovations, we will improve the existing competition, practice, and spectator facilities, creating a more welcoming, functional space for our student-athletes and families.”

"This gift accelerates New Trier’s comprehensive facilities plan," said Liz Mayer ‘02, Executive Director of the New Trier Educational Foundation.  “We are profoundly grateful for this remarkable generosity, which will have a lasting impact on Trevians for years to come."

“These enhancements will extend to our entire community,” Fontanetta added, as the campus is currently used by K-8 feeder programs.

“This project includes the largest donation in New Trier’s history, reflecting the deep community support for our schools and students”, said Paul Sally, New Trier Superintendent.

The total anticipated expense is approximately $14 million. This figure includes previously budgeted costs for resurfacing the existing fields, which have reached the end of their life cycle.
